5. Mecole Hardman does the impossible – National Championship

So having thought about it a lot, I decided I would put in one play for the Championship game. I know a lot of folks are hurting and some might want to just pretend the game didn’t happen. But there were some incredible moments from this game that I don’t want to forget. One, in particular, was by Mecole Hardman.

Hardman was in his first year playing wide receiver. He had some bad drops early in the year and he is still learning exactly how to play the position. But what a game he had on the biggest stage of them all. This play right here, an 80-yard bomb from Jake Fromm simply had to make my top 5.

That pass from Fromm is a thing of damn beauty. You literally cannot throw a better ball than that. But as good as the throw is, just look at Harman. He has absolutely burned the Bama corner, look how much separation he’s got. That’s senior defensive back Tony Brown that Hadman just burned. He’s one of the best veterans on the Tide defense and Hardman just made him look foolish.

Then there’s the athleticism to stay in bounds and finish the play. Yes, it still hurts that we went on to lose this game, but reliving this moment is necessary. The play was that damn good.

And here’s the thing guys, Hardman is just a sophomore. Not only will he come into next year with a full year under his belt, he will continue to get better at a position that he is still learning right now. This guy is going to be an incredible weapon for us to all watch in 2018. This play gets me all sorts of excited for what we can expect next year.
