3. Flea Flicker to start the game – Mississippi State

So this might be a little high for some people. This play didn’t have anywhere near the significance of some others and so some people might think that it should be lower. But I’m sorry, for me, this was one of those ‘oh my god’ moments of the season.

I never thought I would see Georgia throw a flea flicker after last season. I never wanted to bury Jim Chaney like some, but I did think he was a conservative play caller. This play was for me important not just because of the execution on the field, but because of the mindset behind calling it.

Last year, Georgia was too conservative. They didn’t make calls like this but seeing them do it to start off such a big game early on in the season, that changed this team. It helped that we executed it, of course, its easier to keep being aggressive when you are being successful. But it was just so important for our team this year to play like this.

We saw Chaney do that this season. Yes, he was conservative in the 4th quarter last week, I know that, but the fact is that overall, UGA became a much more diverse offense. They started calling surprise plays and doing things nobody was expecting.

This Flea Flicker was the start of all of that. With Jake Fromm a sophomore and Justin Fields in town to run some packages as well, I expect that to continue into 2018. A few more splash plays like this next year would certainly help Dawg fans forget last weeks woes.

And I mean, if this didn’t make you jump off your seat when it happened, I’m sorry but you’re not a Dawg fan.
