14. J.R. Reed fumble return TD ends the Gators – Florida

From one defensive play to another. This is a moment that a lot of Dawg fans are going to remember for a really long time. That game against Florida this year was one of the most perfect sporting games of my life.

The Gators talked plenty of trash before the game. They boasted about their record against Georgia and some still looked at the Bulldogs like they had in previous years. We’ll get into some offensive plays from this game later, but we’ll start with the defensive touchdown that finished the game off. And it was still the 3rd quarter…

Talk about a mess. The Gators seemed to completely forget about blocking the blitz and poor Felippe Franks is in trouble. This was a microcosm of the entire game for Franks. He was seeing ghosts all game, in part because the Dawgs were hammering him all day.

My sneaky favourite part of this play? Davin Bellamy doing the ‘Gator Chomp’ celebration and not getting a flag. I hate how referees have started throwing flags on opponents who do this when Florida players are allowed to. None of this Georgia team had ever beaten Florida before. They were mocked before the game started. Bellamy’s reaction was exactly what Dawgnation was thinking at that moment. The perfect ‘game over’ statement that sent us all into delirious applause.
