11. Sony gashes the Sooners – Rose Bowl

Unsurprisingly, we are not done with the Rose Bowl. No the best game that I have ever seen is going to get quite a few moments in it and now we’re onto the second. There are a lot of things that I’m going to remember about this game in the years to come, many of which didn’t make this list.

But one thing that will stand out most in my mind is that this was Sony Michel’s game. The running back was absolutely at his best in this huge matchup and he took over against a favoured team that had the best offensive player in football this year. No play sums that up more than his huge 75-yard touchdown run that helped UGA hang around while OU was scoring at will.

What a run this was. Credit to the offensive line who clear out left, leaving an enormous hole to the right. OU’s young linebacker completely misreads the play and follows them and after that, it’s a foot race. I’ll take Sony in one of those over pretty much anyone in the country.

I love the safety at the end who does a combo of slipping over and pretending that he is trying to tackle Sony. We’ve all been there before, you’re out of position and you know you’re in trouble, but I just love his failed attempt to look like he tried to tackle someone who is 6 ft away from him.

This touchdown gave Georgia a chance in a game that it needed to win. It kept them alive against an OU team that to be honest was terrifying for the first quarter. Michel made plenty of other big plays that game, but none was more important than this one.
