10. Tyreke McGee pick starts the shutout – Tennessee
It was a rough season for the Tennessee Volunteers. That might be the reason so many of their fans were trying to rub salt in the wounds of UGA after their loss to the Crimson Tide last week. You tend to be pretty upset when your team goes 0-8 in SEC play.
Perhaps no play summed up the Vols season better than the very first one against Georgia. Their then quarterback, Quentin Dormandy, threw his first ball to the wrong guy. Tyreke McGee made an excellent read and jumped the route, giving UGA a turnover to start the game.
It was an athletic play by a cornerback who improved a lot this season. It was also the beginning of the end of Butch Jones and the Tennessee season. While they hadn’t exactly gotten off to a flying start, they still had a chance to have a decent season when UGA came into Knoxville.
Instead, they were beaten down in a way that few Georgia fans will forget. 41-0. That’s what I call a beatdown guys, a complete and utter shutout.
