Georgia Football: Top 15 plays for the 2017 season
7. Lorenzo strips the ball and Roquan Recovers – SEC Championship Game
Looks like it’s Roquan AGAIN. But this time, he brought along a friend and it’s friend who we are going to see again on this list. Offense is great and scoring touchdowns win games. But defensive plays like this more often than not turn those games in your favour.
They create momentum as well as field position. It’s incredibly hard for an opposing team to pick themselves back up after watching their star player give the ball away. Kerryon Johnson might not have been fully fit for this SEC Championship game but that takes nothing away from these guys and the play that they made.
This play was a turning point. Georgia was looking good in the game, they had a lead but Auburn was by no means out of it. This was the moment where the game officially turned and things started going sideways for the Tigers.
The Dawgs scored on the following drive and then converted a 2 point try. That took UGA’s 6 points lead to a 14 point one in the 4th quarter. This play essentially changed the game and put Georgia in the driving seat for the rest of the game. Unsurprisingly, it was made by 2 of Georgia’s best players this season in Carter and Smith.
