The 2017 season has just ended, but Kirby Smart an Georgia Football is already looking forward. One position to watch out for this spring is right tackle.

If there was one area of the team that Georgia Football fans could be pleasantly surprised last year, it was the offensive line. That unit went from one of the worst in the country to the best in a very short period of time. The good news for fans is that there is every chance that it is about to get even better.

Isaiah Wynn did a good job at left tackle. He played at a very high level considering his physical limitations. In 2018, Andrew Thomas, the freshman who started every game at right tackle will take his spot. That will free up the right tackle spot for some other top prospects to fight for.

All of the players who are going to compete for that spot are seriously big players. They will add a lot more beef to the line than Wynn brought. That’s no slight against Wynn, who played incredibly well in 2017, but this 2018 line is going to be even bigger than it was in 2017.

That could be even truer if someone like Jamaree Salyer or Netori Johnson wins the left guard job. But that’s a conversation for another day. Right now, let’s look at some of the players who will be battling for the right tackle spot going into spring training. We’ll start with the player that I think is the favorite for the spot right now.
