D’Marcus Hayes, Junior

Hayes is the oldest player on this list, but he’s also the one who probably has the furthest to go. Hayes came in as a JUCO tackle and he was expected to be the guy who challenged Wynn for the left tackle job last year.

But Hayes took a long time to adjust to SEC football which needless to say is very different to what he played at JUCO. But there is potential and talent there. Hayes is also 6-6 and comfortably over 300lbs. It’s almost as if Sam Pittman only recruits monsters to play on the OL right?

Hayes is likely going to be the backup LT behind Andrew Thomas in 2018, but he’ll have a shot at the right tackle spot. Pittman won’t just give it to one of the young guys, he will want them to beat out a more experienced player like Hayes.

We don’t really know what Georgia has in Hayes because we haven’t seen him at all since he got to UGA. But he clearly has talent as well as more experience than both of the other players who will be battling for the position. That’s why he has a legitimate chance to win this job.
