How did he end up at UGA?
Camarda was a pretty highly regarded prospect for his position. While he didn’t have as many offers as a lot of top position players do, he had some very big ones as well as Georgia. Alabama and Tennessee also both offered the Georgia native and for a special teams player, 3 SEC offers is a pretty big deal.
Camarda committed to UGA back in April in the evening of G-day. That was an important moment for him to commit because it came just a few hours after Adam Anderson had flipped to LSU. Georgia only had 1 committed prospect at that time and so Camarda at least gave them some semblance of a 2018 class.
How things have changed since then. But Camarda has remained an important commit for Georgia and he could well end up having a very big impact on the school. Georgia doesn’t hand out many scholarships to special teams players. Current Kicker Rodrigo Blankenship had to come to school and earn one in his 3rd year. Blankenship was an Army All American so he himself was a top kicker.
That fact that Kirby Took Camarda’s commitment and saved him a space so early says a lot about the sort of prospect that he is. So let’s take a quick look at the player UGA is getting.
