What type of player is he?

What makes Camarda so valuable to Georgia is that he is multi-talented when it comes to kicking. He is currently ranked as the nations #1 overall punting prospect and the number 4 kicking prospect in the class according to Kohl’s. For those of you not sure who that is, Kohl’s are a training service that focuses purely on special teams play. They have a much better read on these positions than other services.

When you watch his film, a few things stand out. Firstly, he’s going to need a new number, because I don’t think Hot Rod is giving up 98 to a rookie! Secondly, the guy has a huge leg for his age. Whether he’s kicking touchbacks from kickoffs or booming punts down the field, Camarda is already well ahead of where he should be for his age.

That versatility and the ability to potentially do it all is great for Georgia. Not only will they have the chance to work him in at punter this season, but they also potentially groom him to follow Blankenship at kicker in a few years.

Kicking is actually much harder than fans think. Punting is as well and so giving a kid time to learn from someone who has just had a great sophomore season is a good thing. The fact that Camarda is considered to be a better punter right now is good for Georgia because that is the area where they need the most help in 2018.
