Georgia Football starting to have ‘Rich Program Problems’.
Where do the Dawgs go from here?
This is what happens to good programs. Others come in and steal your coaches. It’s been said many times, the only thing worse than having coaches that everyone wants to steal is having coaches that nobody wants to steal. UGA has a lot of guys that other programs want right now. That’s what success does.
But Kirby Smart seems to have a plan. While the Beamer loss is a bit of a blindside, it’s not the end of the world for Smart of UGA. While we still don’t know who UGA are going to hire for those final 2 coaches, the two hires we have seen give us a great idea of how Kirby is going to approach this.
Lanning is a young, aggressive coach who is seen as someone with a very bright future. Kirby has brought him up to UGA to get even better. Summers is not going to coach on the field in 2018, but he’s clearly been brought in to help behind closed doors. He’ll be a great coach in waiting as well should Mel Tucker eventually get that HC job one day.

Jay Johnson did a great job helping Jim Chaney develop good game plans last season. He could take one spot. Don’t be shocked if UGA poaches Fountain back either. He and Beamer have similar roles. Keep an eye out for DJ Looney as well who is at Louisiana Lafayette right now. He was a GA at Georgia before last season and had coached OL and tight ends. He’s also a recruiting wiz who Kirby really likes and is similar to Lanning.
