Several former Georgia football players are currently floating not on NFL rosters despite still having the talent, skill and health to play pro-football. The new XFL can be a second chance for these players.

Last Thursday afternoon, World Wrestling Entertainment and Alpha Entertainment CEO Vince McMahon announced that the XFL is returning in 2020. The XFL originally formed in 2000 and played just one season in 2001 after failures on many fronts.

Most thought the league was dead for sure, until rumors began picking up steam late last year. The rumors started after McMahon sold some of his stock in his most valuable venture, the WWE, to fund his new venture, Alpha Entertainment. From there, word of McMahon bringing back the XFL under this new company started circulating.

But we all thought that these were just rumors until Thursday when McMahon confirmed them. He also confirmed other specifics, but other facets of the league are still a mystery.

A new professional football league will accomplish a lot of things, but the biggest thing it can accomplish is give second chances to football players who aren’t currently on NFL rosters. Whether they’re in free agency, playing in Canada, or playing in an arena league, there are hundreds of ready and able men out there who would love to play organized american football again.

Naturally, some of those men are former Georgia football players. I’m sure many of you all thought about some former Dawgs after you heard the news. How many Bulldogs in recent years have we expected to see shine in the NFL, only to watch them fade to the background? Here’s a list of four such Bulldogs that I believe should strongly consider joining the XFL in no particular order.

And if you’re curious about which former Dawgs played in the original XFL, check out my last story where I rundown through those players.
