Amarlo Herrera

Oddly enough, Herrera didn’t come to mind because he’s no longer on an NFL roster. I actually thought of him because of the tryout he had at the WWE Performance Center last year. It’s been six months so I’m guessing Herrera didn’t pass his tryout. It would be interesting though if Herrera goes from trying to join WWE to trying out for the XFL, since both are ran by Vince McMahon.

But Herrera does deserve another shot at the NFL and he’s still in good enough shape for a prolonged football career. He has spent most of his NFL career on practice squads for Indianapolis and Washington besides a few weeks during his rookie year in 2015. He is currently a free agent.

I expect a lot of free agents to tryout for the XFL if the benefits and risks are worth the jump. Herrera, given his obvious goal to remain a professional athlete, I think will certainly sign up.

Whoever he plays for the the XFL will be getting a solid tackler. Herrera had 334 tackles in four seasons as a Bulldog. That included 21 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks as a middle linebacker. He also intercepted three passes as a Bulldog and he returned one for a touchdown. Herrera was a Second-team All-SEC selection as a senior in 2014.
