Tommy Bush (if there is space)

Now we come to the ‘class space’ argument. There has been a lot of chat on forums over the past few weeks about how UGA is going to sign 25 players. I’m not sure that’s going to be the case. Last season, Georgia gave graduate transfer kicker David Martin a ‘Blueshirt’ scholarship because they were up against the scholarship limit. That meant that his scholarship counted in the 2018 class, not the 2017 one.

I’m unsure if that only counts against the 85 total scholarship number, or if it has to count against the yearly cap of 25 players as well. I’ve seen some people say one thing and others say another. Unsurprisingly, I haven’t heard anything from an actual expert, so for now, I’m going to play it safe and say that I don’t know. UGA could sign 4 more players in this class, or they could sign 5.

If they sign a 5th, I think that player is going to be Tommy Bush. Bush is a tall and very fast receiver who could become a serious weapon for whoever he lines up for on Saturdays. He’s got everything you look for from an outside receiver and he’s been a high priority for Jim Chaney.

Receiver is not a priority for this class. UGA signed a bunch last season and has at least two very good ones coming in 2019. But you can’t teach 6ft5 and 4.4 speed. He’s the kind of guy I can see Georgia making room for if he decides he wants to come. How they do that with their scholarship numbers is a different question. But that’s why coaches make the big bucks!
