Georgia Football has 10 former players invited to NFL Combine
Georgia Football got some good news regarding its former players today when ten of them were invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
I think it’s safe to say that the 2018 draft is going to be a lot different than the 2017 one was Georgia Football fans. Last year, UGA only had 1 player drafted in Isaiah McKenzie. This year, things are likely going to be very different.
Isaiah Wynn has already shown out as a star of Senior Bowl week. Now he and 9 other Bulldogs will have the chance to show their skills at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in March. Georgia will send the 3rd most players to Indy that week. Alabama will send 14 and Ohio State 11.
The obvious names are of course going. Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will be joined by Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy. Georgia’s two juniors who declared, Roquan Smith and Trenton Thompson also both received invites. Both are tremendous physical talents who could really impress scouts.
Javon Wims, Dominick Sanders, and John Atkins round out the UGA contingent that got invites. It’s no surprise to see Wims on the list, but it’s great to see Sanders and Atkins get a shot. Both are relatively unheralded seniors who did a lot at Georgia. If they can put up decent numbers in Indianapolis, they have a shot at getting drafted. That’s particularly true for Atkins. Big space eaters are valuable in the late rounds.

Overall, this could end up being the best class of UGA players to come out in a very long time. While it’s unlikely we’ll see all 10 get drafted, there is a real chance that Georgia has 8 or 9 players picked by teams in May. That would be a great achievement for the program as a whole. It should also give us the chance to see plenty of our favourite now playing on Sundays.
