Georgia Football looks like it’s going to be well positioned to continue to take advantage of its recruiting position under Kirby Smart.

With National Signing Day less than 24 hours away, it’s all getting a bit tense for recruiting fans. Georgia Football has put together a great 2018 class. Kirby Smart has recruited a lot of top talent in this particular cycle and for the second year in a row, a lot of that has come from Georgia.

ESPN released a very interesting map today that showed where top high school players come from. In it, they have identified where exactly their top 100 players have come from in each of the past 10 years. That’s 1000 top recruits over a decade.

Those of you who are Georgia high school fans will not be surprised at the results. Georgia has the third most prospects in those rankings with 113. That was second to just Florida and Texas. Both have more than double the population of the Peach State. Georgia also had 10 more prospects than California, which is now only the 4th most talent dense state in the nation, despite having a population of 40 million people.

As the only real in-state school (sorry Tech, that Triple Option is horrible), Georgia has a huge advantage over a lot of schools right now. We’ve seen Kirby Smart maximize that in the last 2 classes. In 2017, UGA signed 11 of the top 16 players in Georgia. This year Kirby Smart did even better with top-end talent. He signed 4 of the top 5 players in the state, all of whom were 5-stars.

Next: Predictions for Signing Day

There is a whole lot of talent playing high school football in Georgia right now. Winning should make that in-state pull even stronger for UGA. 2019 is loaded in the state of Georgia. If Kirby Smart can pull 10 of the top 15 in that year, well then watch out SEC. The Dawgs really are going to be nasty for a good few years.
