How many players can UGA get on campus?

But those 3 weren’t the only players who signed. Georgia also signed two 3-star defensive linemen Jordan Davis and Tramel Walthour. Both players had been committed for a while and had their spaces locked up. They both wanted to sign on the traditional signing day and did just that. Both bring serious size and talent to the defensive line. They might be raw, but they should make an impact in Athens eventually.

But then the Dawgs did something I really did not expect. They signed a 26th player! Tommy Bush is a tall and extremely exciting wide receiver. He’ll bring size and speed to the outside when he gets onto campus. But his decision meant that Georgia signed 26 player for this cycle. The SEC had a mandate that they can only sign 25 a year.

How they get around this, I don’t really know. Seth Emerson of Dawgnation.com did some research and he thinks he might have the answer. It’s all a bit complicated so I recommend going and reading his article. Emerson does a good job of explaining exactly how this might work.

One thing that is certainly going to have to happen is some roster churn. The Dawgs will need to clear 4 spaces for this 2018 class before summer camp starts. That means some of the Juniors and Seniors who are on the back end of this roster might find themselves looking at other schools. But that topic is for another day. Right now, we should celebrate how on earth Kirby managed to squeeze all these guys in.
