2019, coaching hires, Kirby never stops.

But the today wasn’t just about the 2018 class. Well it was for everyone else, but not Georgia. They also picked up a commitment from 2019 tight end Ryan Goede. Goede is a really talented and tall player who is going to make that position group even stronger. His decision to stay in state shouldn’t be too surprising. Goede is childhood friends with 2019 commits JD Bertrand and Dominick Blaylock. Those two took part in his commitment announcement.

With the 2018 cycle now concluded, Georgia also hired their final 2 members of the coaching staff. Scott Fountain is coming back to UGA to coach special teams and Cortez Hankton comes over from Vanderbilt for the receivers. This should mean some shuffling will happen with the other offensive members of staff.

I give Smart a lot of credit for the way he handled the coaching search. By not filling those two spots straight away, he had the ability to get some of his support staff out there on the recruiting trail. Jonas Jennings is a UGA legend who made plenty of money in the NFL. He then came back to Athens and got an MBA. He now works with Smart as the Director of Player Development.

Jennings works with the players everyday, trying to help them become better men and get their degrees. He has a really important role with this team. But he can’t go out and recruit because he’s not a coach. However, with UGA having some open spots, he could and Smart took him everywhere. Not just to meet 2018 prospects, but 2019 ones as well.

Next: Relive the awesomeness!

Jennings is a huge factor for parents. He’s the guy that’s going to work alongside Smart to make their kid a man. Delaying those coaching hires and getting 2 weeks of Jennings in parents houses was another sign of how Kirby continues to out maneuver others when it comes to recruiting. It’s why he’s one of the best in the business, which likely means Dawg fans should have quite a few more days like today in their future.
