What type of player is he?

When you watch Campbell play, it’s pretty easy to see how special he is. Normally, when someone looks like they are clearly head and shoulders above everyone else in high school football, you take notice. But, when they do that in the talent-rich Miami area, you get the popcorn ready.

Let’s start with his physical ability, shall we? To put it mildly, Campbell has everything you want from a cornerback. He’s not just tall, he has long arms that help him really dominate receivers. When it comes to speed, there is fast and then there’s Campbell. Kirby Smart said in his press conference that he thought that Campbell would be the fastest guy on the team today. That’s how quick the guy is.

Those attributes mean that Campbell has all of the tools to be a shutdown corner at the next level. He’s quick enough to catch up even when he finds himself out of position. When he plays with good technique, it’s almost impossible for wide receivers to beat him. Campbell can even go up and challenge the bigger 6ft 4 plus pass catchers when he needs to. He’s that athletic.

If Mel Tucker and Kirby Smart had a science lab where they genetically engineered the perfect cornerback, they would probably look a lot like Campbell. It’s going to be really exciting to see just how good he can become in Athens.
