What type of player is he?

I’ve said it a bunch of times when it comes to this class. You can’t teach size. Jordan Davis is a great example of that because he is an absolute mountain of a human being. Standing at over 6-6 and 330lbs, Davis has the size that UGA doesn’t have from anyone else at defensive tackle right now. Then again, that’s the kind of size very few teams have on their defensive line.

Davis is more than just a large guy, however. He’s surprisingly quick and gets off the snap really fast for a guy with that kind of bulk. His athletic ability means that you often see him making plays down the field when he needs to. That motor and athleticism mean that he can be really disruptive to an offensive line. He’s the kind of player offensive guards have nightmares about.

Look, Davis is by no means a finished product. He’s currently ranked a 3-star player for a reason. He has all of the tools that defensive line coaches dream about, but he’s very raw. He plays far too high right now and he often gets overpowered because of that. Davis also doesn’t use his hands as well as he should.

But the raw tools are all there. He’s a  blank canvas full of potential for Tray Scott to work with and that’s a really good thing. Davis’ height should also really help him when it comes to knocking down throws during his time in Georgia. That’s going to take some work, but it’s something I can see him excelling at.
