Georgia Football: Defensive linemen to watch this spring
Georgia Football is back at Spring Camp. That means that there are plenty of players to keep an eye on who could have big roles in this 2018 team.
It’s about that time of year guys. Georgia Football is back in the building and they’re officially working out again. While it’s not real football, it’s a sign that we’re getting closer and closer to the spring game this April.
I for one am pretty excited about that game this year. To be honest, I’m even more excited than I was last season. That’s because there are quite a few young players who are going to step up into starting positions and contributing roles this year.
Seeing these guys improve over the offseason is something I always enjoy. Because of that, I wanted to start looking at some of the backup players who could end up making an impact this spring. These are all guys who might not be starters right now, but all of them could be names we hear a lot once we hit the season.
I’m starting with the defensive line. While the team loses John Atkins and Trenton Thompson, I think this will be a strength of the team in 2018. The starters are pretty much set, however. Jonathan Ledbetter, Tyler Clark and Julian Rochester all looked really good last year. Health permiting, I fully expect that to be the starting lineup for much of the season.
But in this unit, the rotation is key. Keeping those 3 guys fresh is going to help make this unit even better and there are 4 other players that I think could have a real impact this season. So let’s take a look at who those players are and how they might improve over this Spring camp.
