Georgia Basketball take on the South Carolina Gamecocks tonight in a game that is pretty much your standard ‘must win’ for the Bulldogs.

If you’ve heard that term a few times the past few weeks, rest assured, there is a reason for that. The Georgia Basketball team goes into tonight’s game desperately needing a win. Technically, the team still has a shot at making the tournament this year. However, to do that, this team is going to need to win out.

Bad losses against San Diego State and U Mass are one thing. However, the 9 losses in 13 games stretch in the middle of the season is why we’re at this point. You just cannot lose 8 of your first 12 games against your conference rivals.

Tonight, Georgia take on the South Carolina Gamecocks, but this is not the same SC team that went to the Final Four last season. This team only just snapped a 6 game losing streak and while they might have beaten UGA earlier this year, they are there for the taking.

We all know that Yante Maten will not go quietly into the night this year. But it’s more than just Maten’s legacy on the line right now. If UGA can find a way to win out and make the tournament, Mark Fox might yet save his job.

That remains a very long shot, but it starts with a win tonight. Beat a lowly SC team and give fans a reason to show up against LSU this weekend. Lose and it’s safe to say that you can put a pin in the 2018 season and maybe the Mark Fox era.
