Alabama fans seem to be taking an awful lot of shots at the Georgia Football team in the past few weeks. Well, lap it up Tide fans, because like Kirby said, we aren’t going anywhere.

It’s been almost two months now since the end of the amazing 2017 Georgia football season. It ended by having our dream of winning our first national championship since the 1980 season destroyed on one pass on  2nd and 26 in overtime by freshman Alabama quarterback Tua Tagavailoa.  It was a gut-wrenching moment for all of Dawgnation.  One we may never completely get over, but one that we will get past. But we were there, Dawg fans. For the first time since 1983, we were in the national championship game. I’m proud of our boys and that staff. They gave Bama all they could handle.

Alabama fans, many of who seem to have the sense to know what Kirby has already built in Athens and is continuing to build, are enjoying this moment. They’re revelling in it. They’re celebrating a ridiculous FIFTH national championship under head coach Nick Saban. And they’re having a little fun at our expense. The trolling on Twitter and Facebook are at an all-time high. They are making references comparing the Dawgs national championship performance to the 28-3 lead that the Falcons blew in the Super Bowl in 2017.

And now, one, in particular, has even gone as far as to make February 26th (2-26, the down and distance on the last play of the last play of the national championship where Tua Tagavailoa connected for the game-winning TD) an unofficial national holiday for Bama fans. Bobby Wesson is a writer who is also a big Alabama fan, and he celebrated this “holiday” by prank calling businesses around Athens on 2-26.

You see how they are acting? Ridiculous. I’m sure the typical Bama fan will tell you, “Hey, we are used to it. We’re just having a little fun.” Well, go ahead, Bammers. Get your best shots in while you still can. I can see through you all like a freshly Windexed window. There’s something more going on than just enjoying another natty at the expense of the team you defeated. I can sense it. I can smell it. It smells like a Denny’s combo platter of FEAR with a little respect on the side.  That’s right, Bama. I said FEAR.

You guys had 7 #1 recruiting classes in a row. Kirby Smart was a part of 6 of those. He comes here, and within 2 years your streak of #1 classes is over.  And the way 2019 is shaping up, we will have the #1 class yet again. That scares Y’all a little.

These young gun coaches like Kirby Smart, Dabo Swinney, and Tom Herman aren’t going anywhere. I know Herman has yet to get Texas back to where they should be, but it’s coming.  Nick Saban is 66 years old. You guys do know he can’t coach forever,  don’t you? There is a shift of power beginning in the SEC. I know recruiting isn’t everything. These 4 and 5 stars have to be coached up. But Kirby has already proven what he could do with good players this past season by sweeping the East, winning the SEC championship, winning the Rose Bowl, going to the national championship, and having them one play away from winning it all. Georgia isn’t just coming anymore, Bama. WE ARE HERE.

I know this stuff scares Y’all. I understand. Change can be scary, especially bad change. But as they say, all good things must come to an end. We will meet again, Alabama.  Maybe in the 2018 SEC championship. It will be another classic. We will fight. You guys will come back. It will look like the same old scenario but in the end,  we will be the ones who have our hands raised in victory. In the first Rocky, the great Apollo Creed barely beats a new contender named Balboa. In Rocky 2, Balboa gets his second chance and wins.

Next: Predicting the 2018 running backs

I think we all know what Kirby Smart can do with a second chance after watching his team manhandle an Auburn team 28-7 just 3 weeks after they had whooped the Dawgs 40-17 at their place. Cue the Rocky music. We will meet again, Bama, and we will win. Georgia and Kirby Smart will kick you out of the Penthouse of college football and into the single-wide trailer. A new SEC king is about to be crowned. Saban’s reign will soon end, and Kirby will be there to take the sceptre.
