Georgia Football: Wide Receivers to watch this spring
Kearis Jackson, Freshman
Jackson is the youngest player in this group. As an early enrollee, he technically should still be in high school. Jackson looks like a natural to fit into the Godwin/Hardman role in the next couple of years. He looks like the perfect slot receiver because while he isn’t that tall, he has tremendous quickness as well as very solid hands.
Jackson is a different player to those two starters, however. He’s very strong for his size and famously won the state shot put championship. That’s pretty incredible considering he only weighs about 200lbs.
Jackson is probably the least likely to see the field of this group for two reasons. The first is that he has the least experience and has only just arrived. The second is that his natural position is currently the same as UGA’s two best receivers. That being said, Jackson is a really hard worker and I can see him having success early on.
Do I think he’s going to beat out Hardman and Godwin? No, I don’t, but Jackson is going to impress coaches and his teammates in the weight room and on the training field. Don’t be shocked to see him get the ball a few times on G-day. He’s the kind of guy who can do unique things and I think Jim Chaney will use him in specific packages.
