There were lots of positives to take out of the Georgia Football Pro Day this week. One former Dawg who didn’t get a Combine Invite stood out in particular.

Georgia Football’s pro day went down as expected. Several of their top prospects showed their skills and a few hidden gems also had big days. These aren’t vital for many of the top prospects and UGA has a tonne of those this year. Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Roquan Smith, Isaiah Wynn etc, they didn’t really need to work out. But there were lots of other guys that today really mattered for and it was good to see some of them stand out.

The biggest takeaway for me, however, was the depth of talent that UGA put out there. Georgia could end up with as many as 10 players drafted in 2018, which would be the most ever for the school. Based on needs, it might end up actually being more than that at Aaron Davis showed that he could be worth a late pick to the right team.

In a lot of ways, this pro day was just the beginning for Kirby Smart and UGA. The 2014 recruiting class was not at the same level as the past few that Kirby has brought in. Very few schools have the depth of talent that UGA has right now and that should make for some crazy Pro Days going forward. By the time we get to 2020 and 2021, we could see as many as 12-15 players having draft grades.

Like Marcus Spears says in the above video, Georgia is just getting started with this. And these Pro Days are a recruiting tool of their own. It was televised live on the SEC Network and attracted multiple NFL head coaches. If high school players want to make it to the NFL, it’s going to be hard to find a place better than UGA right now.
