Aaron Davis has his moment:

If one player stood out yesterday, it was Davis. As a 5th year senior who originally walked on to the team, Davis has been overlooked by a lot of draft services. He wasn’t invited to the Combine and the fact that he never settled down as an outside corner means that a lot of teams won’t have him on their board.

But if I was going to bet on one lower rated UGA player having a solid NFL career, it would be Davis. He started 45 games during an incredible 5 years at Georgia. Having redshirted his first season, Davis became a mainstay on Georgia’s secondary. He played all over the secondary during his time in Athens and that versatility helps. Davis has a lot of similarities to Maurice Smith who made the Dolphins roster as a UDFA.

Davis impressed scouts on Wednesday when he displayed better than expected athleticism. times and results are not reported, but some sites said that Davis ran the 40-yard dash in the low 4.4’s. That would be the fastest time of any UGA player this offseason.

Nobody thought that Davis had that level of speed. He opened some eyes and that’s great for him. Davis will impress coaches when he gets in interviews because he’s a really smart guy. When he gets up on the chalkboard, he’s going to show that he’s capable of finding a role in an NFL defense, playing in the nickel. Based on his performance today, I wouldn’t be shocked if he ended up being a late round pick because I really do think he’ll find a role in the league.
