Georgia Football: Aaron Davis shines at UGA Pro Day
Belichick loves UGA’s linebackers:
As we wrote about yesterday, Bill Belichick took a lot of interest in UGA’s linebackers yesterday. He was very hands-on with all of them when it came to running the drills. It’s not that rare to see Belichick pick a certain position group and work with them, especially one with 3 players who could get drafted. But it made plenty of headlines.
Lots of media writers think that his interest meant that the Patriots are going to pick Lorenzo Carter at the end of the first round. I’m not sure about that. Roquan Smith will definitely be gone by the time the Patriots pick and Carter could be as well. I really don’t know exactly where Carter is going to be picked, but it could be in the first round or on day 2.
I actually think the player that could be more interesting to Belichick is Davin Bellamy. The last two Dawgs the Patriots signed were Malcolm Mitchell and David Andrews. Mitchell was a late round pick and Andrews was undrafted and both have turned impressed in Foxboro.
Bellamy is really similar to both of those guys. He’s a hard worker and a great team first guy who would fit in well in New England. While he has talent, but he’s not the physical freak that Carter or Roquan Smith are. He’s very much the ‘prototype’ of a Patriots player. If he ended up with the Pats, I could see him really developing and making an impact. It’s worth keeping an eye on at least.
