Lots of rotation for linebackers:

Right now, it looks like there are only two linebacker spots that are secure. D’Andre Walker and Natrez Patrick look pretty set right now. Both are seniors and are expected to be leaders on the defense this year. Patrick does have those off the field issues hanging over his head. However, if he can put those behind him, he’s going to be a key member of the 2018 team.

Walker has the talent to really step up and be the next OLB Georgia send to the NFL. From a pass-rushing perspective, Walker has even more moves than Lorenzo Carter and he could become a dominant player this year. Look for him to be on the field an awful lot in 2018.

Walter Grant is battling several players to take Davin Bellamy’s spot. Grant impressed last year and he looks really good so far this spring. However, he’s not the only guy pushing for time. Robert Beal is a player to keep an eye on. Brenton Cox is also looking like a guy who is going to see the field as a freshman. That’s multiple linebacker prospects competing for just two spots.

On the inside, nobody is just going to replace Roquan Smith. Juwan Taylor is currently holding the spot but I don’t know how long that will be for. Nate McBride and Monty Rice are currently the second unit of ILB’s. Hopefully, we’ll get to see a bit more of both this year.
