How good has his offseason been?

Perhaps no UGA player has seen their draft stock rise so far as Sony Michel. Last year, some scouts were saying he would be a day 3 pick and maybe go as late as the 7th round. With a successful year under his belt, suddenly, all of the potential that was there is now there for all to see.

Neither he or Nick Chubb decided to attend the Senior Bowl and instead, saved their work outs for the NFL Combine and the UGA pro day. At the Combine, Michel did not do all the drills, but he did really well on the ones he did. He showed good speed and burst in the 40 yard dash and 20 yard shuttle. Then he put up 22 reps on the bench-press which clearly showed he had more power than people think.

Michel has been a fast riser up a lot of media draft boards. With the season now over, Saquon Barkley is the clear top running back. But Michel has made a move on the boards and he’s now ranked between the 2nd and 4th spot. Some like Derrius Guice and Ronald Jones more, but Michel has a lot of support amount some scouts. He certainly possesses more versatility than both of those players. His ability to fit in any scheme make him a viable pick for pretty much every NFL team.
