2018 Georgia Football NFL Draft Prospect: LB Lorenzo Carter
Projected draft grade and potential landing spots:
Much like Sony Michel, Carter has dramatically raised his stock this past year. His versatility and leadership have shown that he’s more than just a talented athlete. If he gets drafted by a team that has a plan for him, he could be a starter for a decade. There is very little he cannot do on a football field.
Much like Michel, I think he has a grade that will see him go in the second round. His crazy tools such as his speed could end up pushing him into the first to a team that really loves him. But ultimately I think he’s going to be a better fit in the second. Carter’s main tool is his versatility not pass rushing. traditionally, edge guys in the first round are pass-rushers.
That being said, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him go in the first. Teams like Jacksonville, New England, and Philadelphia could all use a talent like Carter. All of those teams use versatile players to do multiple things and he’s one of those rare talents that can do it all. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him come off the board right at the end of day 1.
If he makes it to the second round, he could go early. The Colts need a linebacker and have two picks right at the top of the round. I put Sony Michel in as one of their picks earlier today, could they end up with Carter as well? Other teams like the Raiders or the Dolphins could also be a landing spot. Both need help in that front 7 and Carter could be a great fit.
