2018 Georgia Football NFL Draft Prospect: LB Lorenzo Carter
Dawn of the Dawg Draft prediction:
I really want Carter to be a high pick and sneak into the first round. That being said, I think that the teams that are picking late will likely look at other players. I also know that the top of the second round tends to be an area with a lot of trades because specific position groups start to get a little bare.
Players like Carter often end up getting overlooked. He doesn’t have any stats that jump off the page and his speed, while exciting didn’t lead to sacks. I can see him slipping further than he probably should right into the middle of the second round. That’s where I can see a team that is better than their record suggests picking him.
The Green Bay Packers need linebackers. I said so when we were talking about Roquan Smith and I’ll say it again here. Carter is a player that I think would actually fit into their system really well. He would give them an incredible amount of versatility and would allow them to switch their LB’s around.
It will be really tough for opposing teams to figure out where the rush is coming from if they have Carter, Nick Perry, and Clay Matthews all on the field at once. To make matters worse, Matthews and Carter can both cover really well and stop the run. It’s a scheme nightmare that I could see working really well in Lambeau.

Add in his team-first attitude and Carter just seems like a great fit. He’s a hard worker who helped build a great culture during his time in Athens. There’s no flash to him, he’s got a bit of swagger, but mainly, the guy just works his tail off. I can see him becoming an instant favorite in Wisconsin.
