Georgia Baseball went to SRP Park yesterday for a neutral site game against number 8 ranked Clemson.

The 2018 season continues to go well for the Georgia Baseball team. While they ended up dropping a series against Vanderbilt the other week, they remain a top 25 team and right now are ranked 18 in the country. They started this week by taking on the number 8 team in the country Clemson at the brand new SRP Park.

The Dawgs put together another big performance to beat the Tigers. After Clemson hit two home runs to take a 3-0 lead, UGA rebounded and were able to win the game 6-3. They were led by DH Michael Curry who hit a 3 run homer in the 3rd inning and a bullpen that pitched for 7.1 scoreless innings to finish off the game.

It was another huge win for a Georgia team that is dramatically improved on last season. The Dawgs find themselves second in the SEC East, just one game behind Florida and ahead of Vanderbilt. We’ll have to see if they can sustain that for the rest of the season. But the initial results have been really positive.

The Dawgs take on Kentucky this weekend. The Wildcats come to Athens for a big matchup. Another series win would keep UGA right in the mix for the East this season. With series against Missouri, Tennessee, Ole Miss and of course Florida, there is still a lot of baseball to play for the Dawgs. But they’ve got a great chance to have the best year since head coach Scott Stricklin arrived in Athens.
