Georgia Football has some really talented players in the receiving corp in 2018 and three of them were going at it today outside of practice.

You can call me a sucker if you like, but I’ve always loved Kirby Smart’s idea of competition. I know  some fans think that the culture he’s brought into the Georgia Football team is just coach speak. But to me, there has been a real transformation in how the program behaves since Smart arrived.

I’m sure that Mark Richt liked his players to compete as well. This isn’t just a Kirby thing. However, it does seem that guys compete a lot these days in Athens. As some fun evidence of that, UGA’s current starting three wideouts were on ESPN today doing trick catches:

First things first, good lord Terry Godwin and Mecole Hardman have great hands. I almost feel bad for Riley Ridley in this video because he struggles to keep up with the two of them. That says less about Ridley in my mind and more about Godwin and Hardman. They both have such soft hands and seem to catch everything.

I knew Godwin could do some crazy things. Who can forget ‘the catch’ against Notre Dame after all. But I wasn’t expecting Mecole to be this good. He’s only been a a full time receiver for less than a year. To see his ball catching skills be almost as good as Terry is a credit to just how far he’s come in a short period of time.

Back in that same game in South Bend, Hardman dropped what should have been an easy TD that would have sealed the game. Clearly, he’s come a long way since then and we could be in for some spectacular plays from him this coming season. I cannot wait to see these guys catching passes for real this G-day!
