Could he be better in the pros?

It’s hard to imagine Chubb having a better professional career than he did collegiate. That’s not because he couldn’t be a great running back in the NFL. It’s more that he’s basically on the Mount Rushmore of SEC running backs right now.

That being said, I do think that if he falls into the right situation, there is a good chance that we see an even better Nick Chubb in the pros. There is no doubt that he is still not quite the player that he was before the knee injury. It does take time to fully recover from torn ligaments and many forget just how horrific of an injury that was. He certainly wasn’t quite right in 2016 and he wasn’t fully back even last year.

A lot of scouts think that he’ll never quite recover that burst of acceleration that he used to have. I’m not so sure because it actually got better as the 2017 season went on. He’s also someone who has been remarkably durable throughout his college career. He had one freak injury which was caused by the shocking field that Tennessee plays on. Even after that, he returned in 2016 and played every single game. He takes care of himself and simply doesn’t miss games.

The key to his success will be landing in the right system. He’s a power runner who can make teams pay when he gets to the edge. If he gets drafted by a team that plays to his strength, I think he has the talent to be a pro-bowl player one day.
