Georgia Football fans rejoice, we have a game to watch this weekend!

The long break between winter and fall really drags on for Georgia Football fans. It’s been more than 30 years since UGA come off a better season than they did in 2017. While they lose a lot of seniors, there remains a lot of talent on the team. That is making this offseason particularly painful for Dawg fans.

The wait for football has been a struggle. While we all got to celebrate the fantastic signing class back at the beginning of February, it already feels like forever since the National Championship game.

But today, Dawg fans can actually look forward to something. That’s because this is the one week before September where we get to watch the Dawgs play. While it’s true that they’ll just be taking part in a practice scrimmage, this is the lone week in the 9 month stretch of no football.

The spring games so far have been a disappointment for many programs. Poor weather has meant that a lot of teams haven’t experienced great attendance for their games. UGA is going to be hoping that they have a repeat of Kirby Smart’s first G-day. While Sanford Stadium is undergoing a renovation and therefore doesn’t have 93,000 seats anymore, the administration is pushing hard for a big attendance.

With several prominent members of the heralded 2018 class already in Athens, there is going to be a lot for fans to watch on Saturday. But more importantly, it’s a chance for fans to show everyone why there is something special about Athens. There are going to be a lot of top 2019 recruits in town to see the game. The Dawgs have a chance to show them that there is no fanbase in college football better than UGA.

Game Details:

The game will start at 4 pm in Sanford Stadium. In anticipation of a high turnout, UGA will be ticketing Sanford for the first time during a spring game. When fans enter, they will be given a free ticket that identifies the section they should be sitting in. Gates open at 1pm and the Dawg walk will be at 2.50pm. Finally, for those unable to make it to the game, it will be televised on ESPN from 4pm.
