Georgia Football: Offensive Players to watch on G-day
Riley Ridley WR
Ridley is the player than most expect to win Javon Wims’ job. He doesn’t quite have the same height that Wims had, but he is just as tough and plays the game in a similar fashion. Jake Fromm showed last year that he loves receivers that can go up and get the ball. Ridley certainly has that ability as he showed in the National Championship game.
I expect Ridley to start on the outside opposite Terry Godwin. Look for him to get a lot of balls thrown his way as the coaches try an build his confidence. We all know just how good Godwin is at this point, the guy doesn’t need many reps. Ridley, however, could really grow into a solid play-maker if he builds a strong connection with Jake Fromm.
Matt Landers WR
Landers is someone who just has something no other receiver in this camp has right now. Height. He’s not like Wims who we thought was 6ft4 when he was actually about an inch shorter. Landers is a legit 6ft5 and he uses that tool incredibly well.
He redshirted last year and that seems to have gone well. Landers shone on the scout team and his play has continued to get better as the spring has progressed. He’ll fill the Wims role on the second unit and I could see him becoming a really good red zone weapon one day. It will be fascinating to see how he and Justin Fields connect on Saturday.
