Could he be better in the pros?

Thompson is still a young player. At 21 years old, he’s still got plenty of time to develop. He has the talent to become a much better player at the next level if he’s able to leave his injury issues in the past. The issue for Thompson will be whether he is able to move past the injuries that have bothered him for so long.

Thompson has been banged up for a while and the key for him is going to be his recovery. While UGA has a great medical team, there is clearly a step up when you go to the professional ranks. He will need to land at a franchise that is prepared to wait a bit on his potential. Thompson still has not fully recovered from the injuries that plagued him this past season.

I really hope that he lands on a team that is prepared to bring him along slowly. We’ve seen flashes at times of Thompson’s potential and it’s clear to me that he can be a dominant defensive tackle. To get there, he needs time to recover as well as a chance to work with a great defensive line coach. I firmly believe that Thompson has the potential to have a long NFL career. If he can finally leave behind the injury bug I can see him really rewarding whichever team picks him.
