Georgia Football had another terrific G-Day this weekend. With over 82,000 cheering the players on, the Dawgs once again delivered an unbeatable spring game.

Well, the 2018 edition of G Day is in the books. It’s going to be a long 5 months until Georgia football returns, but the annual spring game sure did help to temporarily quench my football thirst. It has done the same for about 82,000 others who were in attendance and hundreds of thousands of others watching on ESPN. It was a great day for all Dawg fans. Plenty of recruits and former Dawgs were there, and the awesome weather and excitement made it feel more like a fall Saturday in Athens than a spring one. There was no Ludacris concert, but Kirby Smart and Dawgnation have helped to turn this already awesome event into one that doesn’t even need a concert to be a huge success.  Here’s my recap of a fantastic spring afternoon in Athens.

Raising money for a great cause:

I began my day at the benefit tailgate for former Southern University player Devon Gales who was paralyzed after a collision with Georgia punter Marshall Morgan in 2015. Funds raised are going to be used to build a home for Gales and his family that will meet his day to day needs. We had whole hog BBQ, pizza, plenty of good desserts, cornhole, a raffle, and even a live DJ. A great time was had by all. I got a chance to talk briefly with former Dawg great Odell Thurman. Devon Gales and Marshall Morgan both were there. Devon was like a rock star. Everyone was taking pics with him and taking time to show their support. I was fortunate enough to get to meet the young man, and he was an absolute joy to be around and a truly inspirational guy.

The early numbers I’m hearing for funds raised yesterday are topping $10,000. Great job by all involved,  but there’s still a lot of work left to do. Go to www.buildfordevon.com to make donations.
