2018 Draft Profiles for all Georgia Football players
Aaron Davis, DB:
How good was he in Athens?
Aaron Davis will leave Athens as one of the most underrated players in the past few years. One of the most versatile defensive backs UGA has had for years, Davis has played pretty much every spot in the secondary.
Davis was a 5 year senior at UGA. He walked on initially and won his scholarship through his play on the field. In 4 years, he never played less than 11 games and he always seemed to make an impact. He had 5 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, and 4.5 sacks during his career and 184 tackles in general.
Could he be better in the pros?
Davis was not given an opportunity to go to the NFL Combine, but he impressed at the UGA pro day. He ran a 40 yard dash time of under 4.5 seconds and proved that he actually had more athleticism than people thought.
I’m not going to lie, I’m a big fan of Davis. If one guy on this list ends up having an 8 year NFL career, I’d put money on it being him. His versatility and hard work meant that he just kept finding a way onto the field at UGA. The guy is like a swiss army knife back in the secondary and to me, that’s not only valuable, but it’s also pretty rare.
Projected grade and landing spots:
Initially, I thought that Davis would be a UDFA. However,r after his impressive pro day, I really do expect him to get drafted. His tape is actually pretty damn good and if I supported an NFL team, I’d want him pretty badly.
That 40 time might end up meaning that he gets drafted earlier than some people think. There just are not that many defensive backs in any draft class. There are even less that can run a 40 that fast and play at every defensive back position. I think he could go as high as the 5th round to pretty much any team.
