ATLANTA, GA – DECEMBER 02: Roquan Smith /

Roquan Smith (Junior) LB

Alistair: 1st round, pick 10, Raiders.

This has been my pick for Smith since the process started. He’s exactly what the Raiders need from a talent and a leadership perspective. They need a fast physical defender who can take charge of this unit alongside Khalil Mack. My only concern for them is that Smith is so good, he ends up going earlier. If the Colts do not trade back down, I could seriously see them taking Smith at 6. He’s one of my top 5 players in the entire draft and is an elite talent who should make multiple pro bowls.

Davis: 1st Round, pick 9, 49ers

With linebacker Reuben Foster’s playing status up in the air, 49ers GM John Lynch gets the best linebacker in the draft with the 9th pick in the draft. Smith is an athletic, tackling machine who can rush the passer, stop the run, and drop into coverage. He’ll be a staple of San Francisco’s defense for the next decade.

Kyle: 1st round, pick 6, Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are switching to a 4-3 defense and they need an inside linebacker to captain that ship. Who better than Smith? He plays sideline to sideline, in the backfield and downfield. He’s vocal and teammates listen to him. It might take a little while to adjust to the 4-3, but he’s got the intangible skills needed for the job.

Mike: 1st round, pick 10, Raiders.

It’s pretty much known at this point that the elite UGA linebacker will be a top 10 pick and the highest Dawg taken. He should also be the highest linebacker taken. The only question at this point really is will he still be there at number 10 or will a team like San Francisco take him at 9. The Raiders seem like a good fit.
