Georgia Football fans saw one of their favorite players drafted by the Cleveland Browns early in the second round when Nick Chubb was chosen with the 34th overall pick.
Well, that escalated quickly. Sony Michel and Nick Chubb couldn’t be taken with the same pick, but they were taken pretty damn close. After Michel was taken 31st by the New England Patriots, Chubb went 3 picks later. The second-leading rusher in Georgia Football history was picked 34th overall by the Cleveland Browns.
The move was surprising to me. I didn’t think the Browns would take an RB this early, especially after signing Carlos Hyde. However, having taken Baker Mayfield and a new offensive tackle Austin Corbett, The Browns look like they are investing in their offense.
They have some really talented wide receivers already. Josh Gordon and Corey Coleman both have deep speed and could be dangerous weapons. Jarvis Landrey is one of the best and most reliable slot receivers in the game. They also have a really solid offensive line even without Joe Thomas.
Adding a bell cow in Chubb, the Browns are giving their new QB lots of support. If you’re a Browns fan, this is a pretty good draft, to be honest. Whatever you think of Mayfield, the team are clearly putting him in a great position to succeed. The same can also be said of Chubb. The Browns have a good offensive line and should be able to throw the ball. He shouldn’t see many 8 man boxes in the Pros.

The Browns are building a new culture and Chubb will be a key part of that. He leaves UGA one of our all-time greats and I wouldn’t be shocked if we’re saying the same about Cleveland in a decade.
