Aaron Davis: Undrafted New York Giants

Now this is a match that to me, seems like it’s made in heaven. I’ve gone out on a limb a few times since the season ended regarding my love for Aaron Davis. Having gone back and re-watched last years games, I’ve continued to be impressed by just how well he played in his final season in Athens. I really do think the guys is going to have a surprisingly long NFL career.

The Giants should have a good defense in 2018. James Bettcher is going to bring an aggressive mentality to that unit and he’ll need smart and reliable players in the secondary. Two words that best describe Davis are smart and reliable so I’m pretty sure that he’s going to fit right in.

The Giants have a lot of talent on the back end of their defense, but they don’t have anyone like Davis. Janoris Jenkins and Eli Apple are both really talented cornerbacks. Apple has been incredibly inconsistent with his effort since his arrival however. Landon Collins has become a pro bowl level safety, but the spot next to him is yet to be filled.

Davis comes in as an undrafted guy, but he’ll bring something different to that unit. A former walk-on, Davis earned a scholarship at UGA and turned himself into a mainstay of an SEC championship defense. He consistently beat out more talented guys with his hard work and smarts. He’s someone to keep an eye out for in training camp and I think he’s got a great chance to make the 53 man roster.
