2007: Knowshon Moreno and Thomas Brown

Danny Ware and Kregg Lumpkin couldn’t crack the top-five, but their stable-mate Thomas Brown gets on the list as a senior alongside freshman Knowshon Moreno. Ware decided to forego his senior year for the NFL Draft while Kregg Lumpkin only appeared in six games because of injuries.

In their place was Moreno, a phenomenal freshman who ran for 1,334 yards with 14 touchdowns. He also caught 20 passes for 253 yards as he was unstoppable on screen passes. Brown dealt with injuries in 2007 as well, but he still racked up 1,025 yards of total offense with eight touchdowns.

Together the duo nearly led Georgia to a National Championship, but we all know what circumstances led to Georgia’s omission from the title game in 2007. Still, they brought 11 wins and a Sugar Bowl win.

Moreno went on to have a decent NFL career that was riddled with injuries, but he played a major part in Denver’s run to Super Bowl XLVIII. Brown had a short NFL career but he ended that dream for a successful coaching career. He is currently the running backs coach and offensive coordinator at Miami.
