2012: Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall

You knew Gurshall would make the cut. Moreno and Brown were a great duo and probably would have been higher on the list of not for Brown’s injury. Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall dominated their freshman years from start to finish. Gurley had 1,502 yards of total offense with 17 touchdowns. Marshall had 850 yards with nine touchdowns.

The two dominated because of their differences. Both had speed. But Gurley could run over defenders, as well as jump over them. Marshall relied on very sudden cuts to sneak past defenders. For other defenders, Marshall just ran past them as they were likely too slow to catch him.

Unfortunately, injuries derailed this stable as well. Marshall dealt with some injuries early in 2013 but he was healthy when Gurley fell to an injury against LSU. However, Marshall’s season ended and his career was ruined by an injury a week later. He only ran for 620 yards for the rest of his career. Gurley would rebound and ended his career by passing the torch to another great duo.
