2014-present: Nick Chubb and Sony Michel

Who else was going to take the no. 1 spot? Sinkwich and Trippi won awards, earned All-America honors and delivered a national championship. But for me, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel edge out Sinkwich and Trippi because of longevity. Sinkwich and Trippi had just one year together, Chubb and Michel had four. Simple as that.

Those four years produced a total of 9,364 yards from scrimmage and 87 touchdowns. This past year, they became the first duo in school history to rush for 1,000 each. Chubb had 1,345 yards and Michel had 1,227 yards.

Injuries nearly squandered this duo as well. Michel’s shoulder injury in 2014 limited him to just 410 yards . But he bounced back for 1,136 yards as a sophomore and 840 yards behind a bad offensive line in 2016.

Chubb’s career began with an amazing 1,760 yards from scrimmage, 1,547 of those yards came on the ground. A knee injury ended his sophomore campaign after 747 yards, but he returned with 1,130 yards as a junior.

It was their senior year, however, that jolt them to no. 1 on this list. Their 2,572 yards and 32 total touchdowns led Georgia to the SEC Championship, a Rose Bowl victory and an appearance in the National Championship Game.

Next: Georgia needs to make Atlanta their second home

They not only embraced one another, they enjoyed playing together. They became best friends and roommates at Georgia. Their chemistry helped one another and spread to the rest of the team. They wanted to play their best for each other and the team wanted to play their best for them. The upcoming stable of backs might deserve a spot on this list years from now. But it’s going to take a lot to surpass Chubb and Michel.
