Look out SEC:
In case you couldn’t tell, I’m a bit of a fan of Cook. His film reminds me quite a bit of Christian McCaffrey and I think he’ll be used in a similar way at UGA. I don’t expect him to get the shear volume of carries that McCaffrey got while he was at Stanford. However, I do think that we’ll see Georgia use Cook in a lot of different ways.
Even thought UGA has so many other running backs, I can understand why Cook came to UGA. His versatility should make him the perfect compliment to the other guys that he’s going to play with. While he might never touch the ball more than 100 times in a year at UGA, I think there is a very good chance he accounts for more than 1000 yards in a season more than once.
That versatility and speed is going to be a dangerous weapon for UGA’s coaches. How creative they get with him will be a test as to how good they are at maximizing talent. I can see linebackers having fits trying to cover him as he runs routes out of the backfield. In many ways, Cook will be a fantastic security blanket for Georgia’s QB’s over the next few years.

All in all, it’s a bit rough for the rest of the SEC. Georgia finally losses Nick Chubb and Sony Michel and yet rather than being bare, it seems the cupboard is overflowing. Cook will add to what is already an incredibly dynamic backfield and bring a whole new level of fear to opposing defenses. It’s probably safe to say that this is one ‘forgotten man’ that won’t be anonymous for much longer.
