There has been a lot of talk over the past few weeks about how Georgia Football is recruiting the Atlanta area, but the results are actually pretty good.

There has been a lot of talk about Atlanta recently. After Georgia Football missed on the commitment of Owen Pappoe the other week, a lot of national recruiting writers are eying the Atlanta Metro area.

What has caused this interest isn’t the Pappoe miss. It was the fact that 4 players from Grayson all committed to school other than UGA. Other than Pappoe, UGA wasn’t even a consideration for the other 3 guys. While all of them held a UGA offer, Pappoe was the only one who was considering staying in state.

All of this has set of some panic among certain parts of the UGA fan base. Atlanta and the surrounding area is one of he fastest growing areas in the country. It produces a huge amount of talented football players and every big school in the country recruits there. Is Georgia giving up one of the richest recruiting grounds in the nation to other programs?

The short answer to that is no. While UGA has missed on some big name prospects from the Metro area, it has brought in some talent. Guys like Lorenzo Carter and Natrez Patrick have thrived at UGA since coming to Athens. But rather than just look at the individual players, lets dive into some stats shall we? Those show that under Kirby smart, UGA is doing just fine in the Atlanta area right now.
