Expect improvement as the brand continues to grow:

While those local ties are not as deep right now, there is something that Georgia can do about impressing Metro area kids. Win. If 2017 was an indication of the future Kirby Smart is building, the UGA brand is just starting its ascension.

Alabama isn’t just Alabama because of the people in it’s state. It brings in the best recruits from all over the country because of the brand. It plays and wins the biggest games on national TV. Guys from Boston to Nebraska support and respect the Crimson Tide because they are the best at what they do.

Georgia is on it’s way to being something similar. The past few recruiting classes have shown that Kirby Smart is not playing around. He’s going to have championship aspirations for his players. If, or perhaps when, he achieves those, more and more recruits will take notice.

While a lot of talented players from Atlanta are not from Georgia, Smart is making it hard to ignore his program. Winning championships at a school that’s just an hour from home is a pretty great selling point. Going to the 16th ranked public university and getting a great education certainly doesn’t hurt either.

In short, Georgia is doing just fine recruiting the Atlanta Metro area right now. But as the brand builds and Kirby Smart continues to put his stamp on Athens, look for that to continue to improve. UGA will never be able to sign all of the top players in Atlanta, but they will likely have their pick of the litter as the years go on.
