Georgia Football got some good news this week when Deangelo Gibbs enrolled for summer classes.
It looks like Georgia Football should have another talented defensive back in 2018. According to a report from Jake Rowe at 247sports, Deangelo Gibbs has enrolled in summer classes at UGA.
Georgia fans can now take a collective sigh of relief on this front. Gibbs did not enroll for Spring classes after surgery on a shoulder injury. He was also the subject of a lot of unfounded rumors regarding his status with the program.
Gibbs started out well in his freshman season. He made his way onto the field in 6 games to start the season but did not get any playing time after the Florida game. He was not a part of the squad that traveled to a lot of the late season games and did not attend either the Rose Bowl or the National Championship.
His return is big for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs. Gibbs was one of the most talented players in Georgia 2017 class. He’s got the ability to become a dominant player in the STAR/Nickel position that Kirby loves. Like a lot of players, Gibbs has found college a lot tougher than high school. But there are few places where he can develop as well as at Georgia.

Mel Tucker coached DB’s in the NFL for years and Smart is also known for the work he puts in with the secondary. Whether Gibbs can win a starting role in 2018 remains to be seen. However, he’s a valuable addition to a position group still looking for answers. His return brings added depth as well as talent to a young group that is looking for 3 new starters.
