Georgia football: 2017-18 was more important than you realize
Georgia football won the SEC Championship and the Rose Bowl, played in the National Championship Game, and secured a no. 1 recruiting class in the 2017-18 season.
Last season was huge for Georgia football. There’s no way to overstate that. The Bulldogs bounced back from an 8-5 year in 2016, as well as a half-decade of frustration. They finally won the SEC Championship again, were victorious in one of the greatest Rose Bowl’s ever, and nearly won a National Championship.
And thanks to a no. 1 ranked recruiting class that included a dominance in our home state, Georgia doesn’t look like a one-hit-wonder. The Bulldogs are poised for years of major success. We’ll have to see if Georgia can capitalize. But as of right now, the Bulldogs are entering a new, seemingly brighter chapter.
But I don’t have to tell you that. You already know. If your blood runs red and black, you probably find yourself in a conversation about how great the Dawgs can be at least twice a week. I’m not here to tell you what you know, I’m here to tell you what you might not know. About why this past football season might be more important for Georgia than you realize.
And it’s not really because of what the Bulldogs did on the field and on the recruiting trail. Although that is the bulk of it. Instead, I’ll tell you about what three other programs did this past season that will have effect UGA in a positive way.
